Photobucket Over at Lumberjocks when you post one of your projects you receive feed back from other Lumberjocks. For me this was a vital part of my woodworking journey. Not only do you start to feel as if you know these people, you end up really looking forward to what they have to say about your projects whether you receive constructive criticism or you get compliments, which for me has been a great ego booster and allowed me to be able to feel alright about posting my woodwork and making this blog about it. Martin the creator of Lumberjocks has added a way to place links of your posts on your personal blog. So I am now going to place the link to the items that I have posted here AND at Lumberjocks so that if you wish to click on it, you will see what other Lumberjocks have said about my particular project. If you are a woodworker and have not joined Lumberjocks yet, this may just be the push you need when you read the wonderful comments from this great group of people! And if you do join, please tell them Allison sent ya!

How I got here

1/15/2006

Like I said on my header , I am very excited about my new venture here. I have learned so very much in the 10 months that I have been blogging and even more in the 3 years I have been scrolling. It is only been a little over a year and a half ago that I even turned on a computer. What I have learned through this is overwhelming.
Besides working with wood , I am an avid crocheter and have been crocheting my whole life. I have 4 sons and all of them were made a zillion baby blankets as babies. I never ventured much farther than that. I have made a couple of bedspreads (which took some time) but nothing too fancy. Then the Internet and I were introduced and a new kind of crocheter was born. I now have mastered clothes, I can add ponchos, sweaters, turtlenecks and a ton of purses to my crocheting resume. Add to that socks and booties for the finished look. LOL!!! I have enough different granny squares laying around I believe I could literally blanket my home.
Then I found Classmates, probably the single most thing I have done on the Internet that truly changed my life. Finding and renewing old friendships is one thing that I can say brought me pure joy and happiness. Those childhood and (high school) memories being refreshed ,is well refreshing, and fun and just plain awesome. One of these days I will post something extra, extra special a old school mate did for me very , very recently. It was the single most meaningful event in my life that was done by another.
After that I stumbled upon Stumbleupon, This sight welcomed me and I met many a terrific folk there. It was Stumbleupon that perhaps taught me the most when it comes to navigating and learning on the Internet. I am still involved with them and have "friends" I write on a regular basis.
And then Craft Buddy, This is a site I am not even sure how I found, but it was my first experience in posting my woodworking. Through this site I learned how you upload photos, share your crafting experience, become a member of something not as large as Stumbleupon and learn how to interact with people on the Internet. It was a brand new brainchild of "Fred" and he had just started HIS journey into making this community work. He has had a standing in the top 100 crafting sites on the Internet , a feat I am sure he is proud of and SHOULD be. If there are any crafter's out there reading this , this sight is the place for you. Be it beading, crocheting, painting, and yes woodworking, etc. this was definitely my start off point. It was Fred who gave me the confidence to "show the world" my woodworking . I will be forever grateful to him, although I am not an active member anymore like I should be, I still stop in and post my work and do a little "check it out thing". I also would like to state that Fred had decided he ought to make a "Crafter of the Month" on his site, in doing so he chose me and my work. He will never know just how much of a confidence builder, plus let's face it "ego booster" that was to my getting where I am at now on the Internet today. Plus it looks cool on my woodworking resume, as this is not some hole in the ground site, rather Craft Buddy is one of the finest.

Since you are here, why not check out my older posts by simply clicking "Older Posts" above, and on the right side bar is my curiosity poll, which only requires one click. I really am interested in finding out what the male/female ratio of visitors are on a woodworking site!
Thanks and Peace
